Read-Aloud Script

Short passages ready to read during play.

1 · Arrival

“Your journey has brought you to a small village nestled between green fields and a towering mountain range. At first glance, it looks ordinary. But the villagers seem nervous, and every so often someone glances towards the mountain. Each of you has arrived today for your own reasons. You have never met one another before.”

Let the four heroes introduce themselves and talk for 5–10 minutes.

2 · A different village

“This village was once one of the safest places in the realm. Travellers came from every direction. But animals have gone missing, strange sounds come from beneath the mountain, and old stone structures have begun to glow.”

3 · The key-keeper's hut

“At the edge of the village stands a small hut with a white stepped roof. Dark barrels sit outside, and purple markings glow near the entrance. Bram says it belonged to a keeper who watched over the old temple. He disappeared long ago.”

Optional note inside: the First Key opens the way, but the vault itself will test those who enter.

4 · After the battle

“The last skeleton falls, and the field becomes quiet. Through the trees you see an ancient stone temple built into the rocky slope. Seven keyholes surround its entrance. One glows green. The First Key begins to grow warm in your hand.”

5 · The first key turns

“The First Key slides into the green keyhole. It turns by itself. Green light races through the carvings, and ancient machinery rumbles beneath your feet. With a tremendous grinding sound, the stone doorway slowly opens. Cold air rushes from the darkness beyond.”

Campaign truth

Seven keys unlock seven vaults. The seventh key is the Master Key, made for the Final Vault. The First Key opens the Mountain Temple entrance. The heroes do not yet know what the vaults truly protect.
